AGE: 70
LOCATION: Canon City, Colorado, USA
GENDER: F
HEIGHT: 5' 4" (1.60 m)
WEIGHT: 118 lb (53.50 kg)

Living in Colorado and being self-employed, I have ample opportunities to backpack. There are over 700,000 acres/280,000 hectares of public land bordering my 71-acre/29-hectare "backyard" in addition to all the other gorgeous locations which abound in Colorado. Over the past 15 years, my husband John and I have also had the good fortune to hike/snowshoe glaciers, rain forests, mountains and deserts in exotic locations, including New Zealand, Iceland, Costa Rica, Slovenia and Death Valley. My hiking style is comfortable, aiming for lightweight. I use a tent (rainfly if needed). Current pack averages 25 lb (11 kg) excluding food and water.

FIELD USE, CONDITIONS AND PERFORMANCE

I've been lucky to have the Blendjet 2 portable blender for a few months now and I use it way more than I ever thought I would! Almost daily, in fact.

While I have not used it on an overnight backpack, the Blendjet 2 has earned a place on my list of base camp essentials and has also accompanied me on three RV, base camps and fishing trips. We've been blessed with a mild winter (up until this week!) so outdoor time has been greatly extended. Not that weather conditions affect the use of the Blendjet 2 anyway!

The Blendjet 2 portable blender is a lightweight, compact, powerful appliance that is cordless and USB - rechargeable. It comes with its own USB charging cable. When I received it, I plugged it into my USB charging station and immediately the Blendjet logo on the front on/off button lit up to show it was plugged into correctly. I've only re-charged a couple of times after 20 -25 cycles. And that's only because I was leaving for a camp and didn't want it to possibly die.

The next morning, I tried my first smoothie, a breakfast drink with almond milk, strawberries and strawberry protein powder.

From past experience, I know to put the fruit in first, then the almond milk and the protein powder on top. Once all is dumped in, a quick screw of the top and push of the on/off button and VOILA! a nutritious drink is ready!

I love how the BlendJet 2 has raised measurements on the side of the jar. Makes it easy to see where the markings are.

The Blendjet worked then and continues to work, quietly and within 30 seconds or so to completely incorporate all the ingredients. It's rather amazing actually to see!

I have continued to use the Blendjet 2 at home almost daily for protein breakfast drinks.

On base camps, I have reprised my bartender role and am now in charge of Happy Hours. Using the Blendjet 2, I am confident that my cocktails are fully mixed. Depending on where and when we are, I often use powdered cocktail mixes and if the powders are not fully dissolved, the drinks are rather awful with grit settled at the bottom.

On colder nights around a campfire, hot cocoa is a favorite in our camp and it's so much easier to blend the cocoa powder and milk in the Blendjet 2 before heating. Totally eliminates the clumps of cocoa that so often form otherwise.

Once the blending is done, it's easy to clean the Blendjet 2. According to BlendJet, it's considered "self-cleaning" and by that , it means, when I have stuff stuck to the blades, I just need to add a drop of dishwashing soap to some water in the jar of the Blendjet 2 and just give a push of the on/off button a couple seconds. A rinse and a dry and the Blendjet 2 is ready to go again. Mostly though, I just take the top and jar off the base and pop them into my sink and wash with other dishes. The Blendjet 2 base is water-resistant, so I just wipe that off with a damp cloth.

Blendjet provides a number of product instructions in teeny-tiny print including: keeping hands away from blades (!?), not putting it into dishwasher, not using while empty or with liquids over 120 F (49 C), and not using with carbonated liquids. Pretty common sense!

STARRING ATTRACTIONS

1.) Works quickly and thoroughly to blend solid fruits/veggies and liquids.
2.) Relatively quiet for a blender.
3.) Charge lasts a long time and it's easy to recharge.
4.) Convenient for base camp and home use.
5.) It is very reasonably priced for the quality.

MINOR DISTRACTIONS

1.) Too heavy for backpacking trips where every ounce counts.
2.) If I don't screw in the base just right, it leaks.
3.) Accompanying instructions are very hard to read!

SUMMARY

The Blendjet 2 portable blender is an easy-to-use, convenient and fun-to-use luxury on base camp adventures. I've had a blast using it to pre-hike protein drinks as well as afternoon cocktails and evening hot cocoas. It's perfect for two concoctions at a time. When I'm not out and about, I use the Blendjet 2 to make my daily smoothies.

Would I take the Blendjet 2 on an overnight backpack? Probably not though there have been times I would have considered the weight worth not having grit from poorly blended energy drinks!

I heartily recommend the Blendjet 2 Portable Blender for home, RV and base camp use!
