I have been on a few short backpacking trips but I am very experienced in day hikes and car camping. I also like to trail run and climb. I’ve hiked mainly in the Utah desert and Canadian Rockies. As always I have many trips planned this year in BC and Alberta. I’m looking for the best gear that’s light and durable enough for the Rockies. The set comes in three different shapes: bowls, plates, and dishes (smaller plates with a bigger lip). WandsPro sells them in sets of four with three different colour choices available. What is unique about this particular dishware is they can be clipped together which WandsPro describes as ClipQuiet, ClipClean, and ClipCool. ClipQuiet refers to the anti-rattle design which makes transporting the dishware quiet. ClipClean is the ability to stack your used dishware together until you get home to clean it. ClipCool is stacking 2 items together to create a thermal break so your hands or lap won't get hot while using it. The plates have two curved tabs on either side of the eating surface to clip to another plate while the bowls and dishes have one flat tab with a hole in them for the clip feature. The plates and dishes have three grip rings on the bottom for anti-slip properties while the bowl has one ring. All of the dishware comes with the WandsPro logo and handy reminders on the bottom. The handy reminders are diagrams showing that the dishware is freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe. It also lets you know that it is BPA free and can be recycled wherever #5 plastic is taken. Initial Impressions: I have never owned outdoor specific dishware so I am super excited to be testing these items and see how they compare to using regular plates and bowls from my cupboard. The crockery came as described with no sharp edges or plastic bits sticking out. The blue is a very nice colour and I am sure I will be asked where I got this dishware set from by friends. I initially washed all of the items with a sponge and I can already see scrapes inside the dishware. This doesn't bother me as they are going to be used as my camping dishes and I know they are bound to get more scraped up with more use. I enjoy the clip feature as it is easier to transport the dishware without them fumbling all over the place but I did initially have a bit of trouble clicking them together. With the plates I found it's easiest to hold both of the tabs and press down onto another plate to clip it together. The bowls and dishes though only have one tab and don't use the same clicking feature so I have to hold onto the rims of the dishes and press down. I did test out one of the dishes one morning in my kitchen for breakfast and I love that it has a big lip. I had eggs on toast and was happy to say that no yolk was able to run off the dish. Cleaning it afterwards was super simple as well and it dried fairly quickly. I am interested on how the ClipClean feature will come into use and if it truly works. If I use both plates, I figure I will at least have to clean the top plate as only the bottom plate will be covered. I am also wondering if it takes a few days to clean them after use if the dirty food will get stuck and act like glue to the plates. I will test this when using them and report back. Trip 1: Revelstoke Campground (car camping)  Revelstoke, British Columbia Cloudy and Freezing Cold at night -10 - 7 C (14-44 F) Trip 2: Stonehill Climbing Trip (car cragging) Eureka, Montana Sunny with clouds 8-18 C (46-64 F) Rock/Dirt trails Performance in the Field: I used the dishware whenever I went car camping or needed dishware anytime I was outdoors. I also used the dishware in my house for a month or so just to put them through more use. I found them to be pretty durable and work great for their intended use. I like the size of the plates because they can hold a lot of food. The bowls also work great for cereal or oatmeal. I would use the dishes (medium plate with a lip) every once in a while if we needed more plates, but I never found myself reaching for a dish first. They work well with hot food right from the stove but if it's really warm you can use the ClipCool feature and stack the same plate underneath and the heat will disperse. I only did this once as usually both plates were in use. I also used the ClipClean feature once for the same reason. I mean it works to contain the mess to the back of the stacked plate but you still have to clean the top plate. The dishware is very easy to clean with just soap and water or even just water and paper towel if there's no access to soap. I haven't found I had to scrub to get any food off of them yet even after using the dish with eggs and ketchup and leaving to clean it until I arrived home the next day. I have also put them in the dishwasher and they came clean just fine. I think the dishes have two downsides. There are a bunch of scratches visible on the plates after using forks and knives on them. Which is honestly fine with me because they will be used for camping and probably get beat up eventually. The other problem I have is with the clip feature to store them while in transport. It's not that easy to clip together any of the dishes. Sometimes I can get it on the first go but other times they just sort of spin around and won't lock together. I have had friends try to put them together and they had trouble as well. I don't think I will use that feature as much as I only have two of each dish. It makes more sense if you have four or more and you clip them together. Summary: For plastic car camping dishes these work very well. I enjoy the fact that they are rigid and don't bend under weight of carrying your plate with one hand. I will use these often for all my car camping outings or picnics. I don't think I will bring them backpacking as they are a bit bulky and take up a decent amount of space. However they are perfect to chuck in the back of your car.
