I am a four-season backpacker and an off-trail navigator. Although I normally take yearly trips to the American West or Southwest, the majority of my trips are in Michigan and Canada. My pack weight varies considerably, but my base weight is under 18 lb (8 kg). I am primarily a tarp camper who averages over 50 nights a year backpacking in a huge variety of weather conditions including relentless rain, wet snow and sub-zero temps.

The Pneumo LTW 5 L (5.28 qt) Dry Sack is one of several sizes of dry sacks made by the manufacturer. It actually is the smallest size available in this particular product. The sack is completely waterproof, and features a roll-down top with an extra flap, and a quick-release buckle. The Solar Orange-colored sack is flat and rectangular in design and is made with welded seams. Black nylon binding encloses the outer edges of the product. A purge valve is located near the bottom of one of the side seams. The bottom of the sack also features reinforced corners with 1 in (2.54 cm) slits in them. I assume these are for lashing the sack to something else (keeping the quick release buckle end free), instead I actually use the buckle end for attachment purposes. The Pneumo Dry Sack is made out of 40D X 30D ripstop nylon. The fabric is completely coated making it durable but flexible. The roll top closure includes a strip of stiffener on each inner face of the opening. A 3.5 in (8.89 cm) flap made out of the same material covers the front of the opening. When the sack needs to be closed, the stiff webbing band with quick release buckle that is sewn to the upper end, needs to be rolled over several times. Then the buckle can be secured to  insure that the contents in the sack
are watertight.The purge valve regulates or allows the removal of air. This valve is operated by simply turning the knob counterclockwise, squeezing out extra air and then tightening the valve clockwise. I normally don't bother doing that as the manner in which I use the dry sack, renders it unnecessary. If I were packing the dry sack in a pack and I wanted it to take up less space, then this would be an appropriate feature to use. I actually own two different sizes of this dry sack (5 L/5.28 qt and the 25 L/26.42 qt) but for this review I will focus on the smaller sack. I bought the Pneumo LTW 5L (5.28 qt) Dry Sack primarily for canoe trips. I thought it would be perfect to latch onto the front handle near the bow of the canoe. My lunch and snacks, sunscreen, lip balm, gloves, hat and other small items fit in it perfectly. On one of the trips there were 48 portages. Anytime I left the canoe for portages or breaks along the river front, I quickly detached the bag by opening the quick-release buckle and took it with me. Not only was all my stuff convenient, I didn't have to open any of my larger dry sacks until I reached camp at the end of the day.  The Pneumo LTW Dry Sack has not only been used for 16 days of paddling but I also use it in the winter as a convenient waterproof bag attached to my waistbelt for pulling a sledge. In the latter experience, I release my waist belt with the attached dry sack into the snow. I don't have to worry about those items that are stowed in the sack getting wet. I normally carry my maps as well as other quickly needed items such as snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses, lip balm and an extra hat and gloves for breaks. Conclusion
In conclusion, the Pneumo LTW Dry Sack is a lightweight, flexible, waterproof and easy way to store items that are frequently needed during a canoe trip. It could be used for any outing where items need to be protected from the elements. Pros:
