Terra Nova Laser Competition Tent

I would like to add a couple of comments  to the initial reviews by your gear testers. I have split them by tester, but two of them are the same comment.

Coy Ray Starnes:
 
Venting: The Laser Competition does not feature cord adjustable venting as suggested in Coy’s review. The venting system Coy is referring to is only on the Laser and is detailed in our pitching instructions as the ‘Laser flysheet ventilation system’. It is part of the Laser Competition/Laser instructions as both tents share the same pitching method, but only features on the 2-person Laser tent, not the Laser Competition. The Laser Competition venting cannot be adjusted from the inside of the tent and the only way of increasing the venting is to manually raise the ends of the flysheet – as Mike Wilkie has suggested. Lightweight is the main focus of the Laser Competition and if internally adjustable venting is a key factor in the tent you are looking for then the Laser would be the tent to buy.
 
Pitching: The black webbing straps at the top if the carbon rods (each end of the tent) are to adjust the tension on the inner tent. If you are finding it difficult to tension the flysheet properly then it may be that these are too tight; putting tension through the inner rather than the flysheet. As Coy found out, adjusting these makes tensioning the flysheet much easier. If necessary, separate pegs can be used on the flysheet and inner, which allows the more tension to be applied to the flysheet, but adjusting the straps should solve any problems. Double poling is not suitable for our Laser and Superlite ranges of tents (as stated in our pitching instructions), as their designs are not compatible. This tip is primarily aimed at our endurance tents as they have deeper pole sleeves and are more likely to be used in extreme conditions. Unfortunately the pole sleeves of the Laser range are not deep enough to fit double poles and there is no means of securing the pole at its foot.

Fabric: The Laser range used silicone/silicone nylon fabric, where a silicone based coating is applied to both sides of the fabric. This allows us to use very light fabrics and still maintain excellent strength and waterproofing characteristics.
 
Mike Wilkie:

Weight: The Guinness World Record for the lightest tent in the world is now held by our new Laser Photon at a packed weight of 790g, saving 150g. Guinness have only recently ratified this claim and so we have not been able to update our website information until now.
