Product Description: The shirt is white with hemmed cuffs, nothing fancy.
The stretch knit is very comfortable and does not bind my movements at all. I
am able to slide the sleeves up my arms without them falling back down and also
without stretching the material to the point where it doesn’t go back to its
normal size.
Long Term Experience: I have continued wearing this shirt through out the
winter. I did happen to find a bleach stick that removed the stains from
the armpit area but it didn't get the
majority of the grease stains out, although it did work some on the grease. This, I feel, is not a problem at all
as most people probably won't wear it while working on greasy equipment like I
did. And if they do, they are usually used to grease stains!!
The pearling that I experienced has not gotten any worse. I took a sweater
shaver and shaved the ones that were there off and, so far, none have taken
their place. The shirt is still performing the way it is expected to.
The stench factor is still very low and, thus far, the stink stopper has not been washed out.
The shirt has been washed approximately
10 times in warm water/cold rinse with laundry soap. The cuffs, though I
have pushed my sleeves up on my arms, have not stretched. They still fit
comfortably around my wrists (not tight but certainly not loose - they are just
a hemmed cuff, not ribbed or anything).
The temperatures while wearing this shirt have ranged from
-25F/-32C to 20F/-7C. I have hunted, climbed hills, crawled through brush,
worked in a hot machine shop, and did just about everything possible to cause me
to sweat terribly. It got an especially good workout through hunting season.
The snag factor was really good! I only had one snag that "left a
mark" on the shirt. And that was more my fault than anything else. I
got tangled in a bit of a briar patch and rather than unsticking myself, I got a
tad annoyed and "ripped" my arm away and the briar that had snagged my arm
pulled a thread. I fixed that by pulling the thread back through to the
back of the sleeve. For the most part, I wore the shirt as a base layer
with another shirt over the top of it. If I had gotten the black shirt, I
would have worn it as a regular shirt but since the white shirt is a bit
revealing (and I don't wear anything under my shirt when hiking or hunting) I
won't wear it that way. If I wore something like a sports bra, I wouldn't
have a problem wearing it alone.
Things I like: I am very pleased with this shirt as both a base layer and
as a single layer although I probably won’t wear it as a single layer. It is a
tad revealing for me to wear as a single layer as I don’t wear undergarments
when hiking. So far, I have found that the smell factor is very low in my case,
and after reading some other reviews of it, I think I know why. I drink lots
and lots of water and my sweat is not a “bitter” sweat, but a clean sweat.
Although, I can really get rank, I think that the water is helping to keep me
“clean”.
Things I dislike: The information on their box is not clear as to
temperatures this shirt would be comfortable in. I realize that each person is
different as to what is hot or cold to them, but these indicators aren’t clear.
There is nothing on their website either to explain what their
factors/indicators mean. I would like to see that clarified.
My Background: I have been backpacking for 2 years now and before I camped
quite a bit. I consider myself somewhat new to backpacking and am on my way
towards becoming a lightweight packer.
