My Background: I have been backpacking for 3 years now and before that I car camped quite a bit. I consider myself a little more experienced in backpacking and am on my way towards becoming a lightweight packer. I tend to use a Hennessey Hammock since my only tent is a bivy tent. I prefer the hammock to a tent as the hammock leaves me swinging gently in the breeze with no hard spot from rocks on the ground. Nor do I need to dig troughs for my hips and shoulders (side sleeper) so I can practice LNT (Leave No Trace) much better.

For pictures and a more detailed look at the Leatherman Charge Ti - please check out my Initial Report and my Field Report.

Final Usage to Date: I have really enjoyed testing this piece of equipment.  The Charge Ti has held up to my expectations in a multi-tool, especially since I have used it daily.  There is minimal sign of wear and that is mostly on the knife blades.  All the hinges are still nice and tight.  The bits stay in place during use: they are not sloppy, nor loose.  As noted in my Field Report the bits are showing signs of usage, but not wear.  The black coating is coming off, but the bits retain their shape.  No stripping of screws has occurred.  Very nice!  The knife blades have done a pretty good job of keeping an edge, even after cutting a huge number of cardboard boxes, cardboard packing materials, plastics, and wood.  It's also real easy to bring the edge back when dulled.  Almost all the bits that come with the Charge Ti have been used, if not on a daily basis, then at least once a week on my job as a press operator.

The sheath has held up nicely.  I have used it mostly clipped to my pocket although I did wear it with the sheath approximately half the time in order to test the usability of the sheath.  I find I prefer the clip unless I'm needing different bits that are stored in the sheath, then I wish I'd used the sheath.  When using the sheath with the pliers open, they fell nicely into the opening in the bottom designed for that purpose.  There is no noticeable wear in the bottom of the sheath at this time from doing this.

The tool attaches nicely to my pack adding no notable weight.  However, unless I'm going on a longer trip, 2 weeks or more, I will probably not take it.  It will be used daily in my job and at home.

I really want to thank Leatherman and BGT for the opportunity to test this multi-tool!

Things I like: Quite versatile, easy access to all the tools.

Things I dislike: As mentioned in my field report, I'd like to see something that could help with comfort when using the tool for an extended period of time for people with small hands. Also, I'd like to see an extension that is somehow incorporated into the tool, maybe clipped into the handle somewhere.
