Subject:      Final Field Report - Walrus Zoid 2.0

Tester - Marge Prothman

Elevation - 5000' - 8500'

Temperatures 39 - 80 degrees F. No precipitation.

Location - Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument and Capital Reef National Park, UTAH

We camped in the Escalante State Park for 5 nights and 2 nights in the Studhorse Peaks area.

The Zoid 2.0 is meant for two people, however, I used it for just myself on this trip.  I had so much room in this little tent, especially for me and all my gear which consisted of a very large thermorest, A Day Pack, 3 small duffels, a clothes bag and hiking shoes. The food and ice chests were left in the car.

I had this tent up in 5 minutes while my companions who were still struggling to erect a large dome tent for 3 people took about 20 minutes.  The first few nights I pitched it without the Fly, I still however, did the extra tie out from the bottom pole to keep the top

of the tent taut.. I like this tent, easy to erect and plenty of inside pockets for little stuff. I clipped my white photon light to the

inside top of the tent and was able to sit up and read or write after dark.

I did put the fly on the last 2 nights, it was getting colder and we were in a desolate area that reminded me of mountain lion

habitat. I still partially rolled up each side of the fly for lots of ventilation. (not to keep out the mountain lions).

The stakes that came with this tent are worthless. I have either broken

or bent two thirds of them.  I replaced all the stakes with the Kelty Nobendums.

Cheers,

Marge (the old gal)
