This report is not on the Walrus Tent itself but on the STAKES which came with the tent. My reports on the tent stay the same. However, I will re-evaluate the tent if necessary, while hiking on the Colorado Trail at the end of August.

Area of Test:    8,000 - 9,000 ft. in the Saw tooth Wilderness, Idaho, for 5 days.

                      Temperature:  38 - 75 degrees F.

Weather:  3 hrs of Thunder, Lightening, Rain and Hail

Rest of the time-  Overcast to Sunny and warm

Tent Stakes: 6 large ones with indent on one side

6 small ones with a small hook end.

I was originally delighted with the weight of these stakes, however as the stakes were used

daily in various locations I began to have problems with them.

The large stakes when pulled out of the ground were imbedded with dirt, you had to use a small

stake to scrape out the hard dirt that was imbedded in the indents on these stakes.

The small stakes do not have enough of a hook on the top to hold a guy line so consequently I had to tie the guy ropes several times around the stake to get them to hold.

While using the large stakes, I used my heel to finish implanting it in the dirt.(was wearing New Balance Trail Runners)

The top of the stake promptly broke off. This was not a big push with the heel nor did I jump

on it, just used my heel softly to finish the implant.

I am going to contact Customer service and send back the broken stake and see if they will send a  replacement.

My concern when using the stakes: USE THEM SOFTLY.
